TAEGEUK 1 JANG

Taegeuk 1 Jang representa el símbolo de "Keon", uno de los 8 Kwaes (signos de adivinación), que significa el cielo y el "yang". Como el "Keon" simboliza el comienzo de la creación de todas las cosas en el universo, también lo hace la Taegeuk 1 jang en la formación del Taekwondo. Este poomsae se caracteriza por su facilidad en practicar, que consiste en gran parte a pie y en acciones básicas, como arae-makki, momtong-makki, momtong-jireugi, y ap-chagi. Esta poomsae la realizan los practicantes de grado 8 Kup.

Esto es para alentar a los alumnos a albergar un sentido de la justicia y de ardor para la formación. Las nuevas acciones son sonnal mokchigi, sonnal makki y la posición dwitkubi. Este poomsae se caracteriza por sucesivas makki y jireugi, chagi y continuo jireugi. Se hace énfasis en los contraataques contra el ataque del oponente. Taegeuk 6 Jang simboliza la "Kam", uno de los 8 signos de adivinación, que representa el agua, en el sentido de la corriente incesante y suavidad. Los nuevos movimientos son hansonnal olgul bitureo makki, dollyo-chagi, olgul bakkat-makki, arae hecho makki, y batangson momtong-makki. Uno debe tener cuidado que el pie que patea caiga sobre el suelo correctamente después de dollyo-chagi y la ejecución de los batangson momtong-makki más bajos que en los palmok-makki. Este es el practicado por los alumnos del grado 3 Kup.

Taegeuk 8 Jang simboliza la "Kon", una de las 8 señales de la adivinación, que representa el "Yin" y la tierra, en el sentido de la raíz y la solución y también el principio y el fin. Este es el último de los 8 Taegeuk poomsaes, que puede permitir a los alumnos pasar las pruebas para cinturón negro. Los nuevos movimientos son dubal dangseong apchagi, momtong kodureo bakkatmakki, wesanteulmakki, dangkyo teokjireugi, arae kodureo makki, twiochagi, y palkup dollyochigi. El énfasis debe ser puesto en la diferencia entre el twiochagi y dubal-dangsong (alternar patada y salto en el aire). El grado 1 Kup puede practicar este poomsae.
